Bulgaria's ruling majority in parliament adopted a controversial bill authorizing confiscation of illegal assets minutes before midnight on Thursday, but surprisingly banned anonymous tip-offs.

Bulgarian authorities will have the right to launch probes and seize unexplained wealth, worth more than BGN 150,000 which has been acquired over the last 15 years under the draft law, the MPs decided.

Bulgaria's Parliament rejected a proposal that would have obliged the government to withdraw its signature from the controversial ACTA agreement.

The proposal was made by the oppositional far-right Ataka (Attack) and was supported by left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party and right-wing Blue Coalition, both in opposition.

Bulgaria's Socialists Wish to Topple Cabinet by Easter over Belene NPP

The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party has moved to initiate a no confidence vote for the center-right government of PM Borisov and the GERB party over the giving up of the Belene NPP, a joint project with Russia.

Last Wednesday, Borisov declared the quitting of the controversial Belene NPP project for the construction of a 2000 MW nuclear facility by Russian state company Atomstroyexport – or what was supposed to become Bulgaria's second NPP.
