The temperatures in Bulgaria fell to record lows Tuesday morning, even lower than Monday.
The mercury went down the most in Knezha, in northwestern Bulgaria, where it registered minus 29 degrees Celsius at 5 am - an absolute all time record. At most locations temperatures were below 20; in Sofia around 5 am the thermometers showed minus 21.

Bulgarian producers and sellers of alcoholic drinks of suspicious origin will face hefty fines, the government decided on Wednesday, bringing local laws in line with EU legislation.
Bulgaria's Gornooryahovski Sudzhuk has been included by the Euroepan Commission in the Register of Protected Geographical Indications (PGI).
The oldest so far inscription, related to the traditional Bulgarian brandy, rakiya, has been found during archeological excavations on the Trapezitsa Hill in the Old Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo in central Bulgaria.
