The 65th edition of the Cannes Film Festival started today with the first film in competition "Moonrise Kingdom" starring Bruce Willis.

The Dallas International Film Festival presented by the Boardwalk Auto Group Volkswagen Dealers announced its 2012 award winners at its annual gala, The Dallas Film Society Honors presented by the Arthur E. Benjamin Foundation and supported by the Trinity Diversified Film Fund Advisors. Bulgaria is sending for the first time ever a pop folk singer – Sofi Marinova, to represent the country at the Eurovision contest.
Marinova won Wednesday evening the nomination in competition with 11 other finalists in the Bulgarian edition of Eurovision.
Her song "Love Unlimited" was the choice of viewers. The Musical Academy was also part of the vote, but it ranked "Love Unlimited" 3rd, while their pick was the group "New 5" with their song "Chance for Better Life."

Beloved Bulgarian Actor Velko Kanev Dies at 63

Popular and beloved Bulgarian actor, Velko Kanev, had passed away late Sunday night at the age of 63.
Kanev succumbed to vocal cords cancer, which he was battling since 2009. He underwent several treatments in a clinic in Germany after the Chair of the Union of Bulgarian Actors, Hristo Mutafchiev, issued an appeal for donations. The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, further assisted for BGN 80 000 to be granted from the State Fund for the Treatment of Bulgarians Abroad.
